An informal meeting of the Council’s Human Rights Working Group (COHOM) takes place on 26-27 November in Vilnius.

The meeting focuses on new EU guidelines on freedom of expression online and offline, which aim to reinforce the visibility of the EU commitment on freedom of expression, freedom of press, and freedom of belief. Participants also discuss the implementation of the EU Strategic Framework and Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy.
The participants of the meeting will visit the European Institute for Gender Equality and familiarize themselves with its activities.

The informal meeting is traditionally held once every six months in the member state which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU. The Human Rights Working Group is responsible for human rights issues. It is composed of human rights experts from EU member states, the European Commission, the European External Action Service, and the Council’s General Secretariat.
