Vilnius and Brussels Marathons to Include Presidency Teams

Danske Bank Vilnius Marathon on 15 September, and Brussels Marathon, scheduled on 6 October will include Presidency teams. Danske Bank Vilnius Marathon on Sunday will involve over 70 employees working directly in the field of the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council.

The top 28 placed runners will be awarded prizes, while every race participant will receive souvenirs on the occasion of the Presidency.

Brussels Marathon will include Presidency team participants; they will mark the occasion of the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council, and also contribute to Algojimas, the support and charity foundation.

“We are delighted to invite friends and colleagues to join our team. We are not only marking the ongoing presidency, but also supporting a charity foundation for children with disabilities,” said says Arūnas Vinčiūnas, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Lithuania in the European Union.

Brussels marathon starts at the picturesque Parc du Cinquantenaire and its route covers most of the European Quarters up until the finish line at the Grand Place where runners will be welcomed by a cheering crowd. Participants can choose from to courses run ranging from a 1 km run course for children, mini-marathon (4 km) and half marathon (21 km), or to challenge themselves to a complete marathon of 42 km.

Lithuanian presidency team is running to raise money for a support and charity foundation “Algojimas”. The charity foundation strives to change the public perception of disability and achieve a successful societal integration of disabled children together with their families.
