The first 80 BMW cars, made available free of charge by Krasta Auto, are ready to transport foreign guests in comfort and safety, once Lithuania assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July. Today, the fuel tanks will be filled by Orlen Lietuva, another presidency partner.

“We are happy to see the cooperation with the presidency partners, offering support free of charge, developing smoothly and according to plan. Perfect organisation and the admission of honourable guests, in line with top standards, will contribute to the successful Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union,” stated Lyra Puišytė-Bostroem, head of the Logistics Division of the European Union Council Presidency Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The cars designated to transport top EU officials during the presidency shall be made available for inspection today, at the stately presentation of fuel cards of Orlen Lietuva, partner of the presidency, to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Drivers during the presidency were the first to test the BMWs, as Krasta Auto gave training yesterday. The drivers could test the cars in practice, and were introduced to the control of the cars, safety systems, and functions assisting driving. Today, the drivers will test the cars for the guests of the presidency again, as they will be going to the Orlen Lietuva gas station in Saulėtekis.
