On 20 August, Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Igor Corman, Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, met in Vilnius and stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation on the way towards the third Eastern Partnership Summit, which is scheduled in the Lithuanian capital city in autumn 2013.

L. Linkevičius stressed that Lithuania will continue to provide consistent support for the European course taken by Moldova; he also expressed his conviction that the Eastern Partnership Summit would mark an important step forward, seeking the integration of Moldova into the EU.

I. Corman presented the key challenges currently faced by Moldova, seeking to sign an association agreement by the European Union and Moldova, and to establish a deep cooperation wide-range free trade area (DCFTA).

Before assuming the duties of the speaker of the Parliament, Mr Corman, now paying an official visit to Lithuania, acted as the Ambassador of Moldova to Germany and Denmark, and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Moldova.
