The Council of the EU has on October 21 approved the amendments to the EU budget amounting to 2.7 billion euros in additional contributions based on the revision of the forecast of own resources.

The member states have agreed to the Draft amending budget No 6. Its purpose is to update the revenue part of the 2013 budget through a revision of the forecast of traditional own resources, value-added tax and gross national income bases as well as the forecast of other revenue.

The decision to adopt the amending budget follows the agreement by the Coreper on October 14 on draft amending budgets 6, 8 and 9. The Council is yet to approve draft amending budgets 8 and 9.
