From electric bicycle motor to space satellites – such exhibits will be welcoming the visitors of the exhibition of science and technology of the Vilnius Innovation Forum ‘Innovation Drift’ hosted by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania and the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA). The exhibition will take place on 4-5 December and will be open for all residents and guests of Vilnius free of charge.

The exhibition of science and technology will gather Lithuanian and international enterprises, science and technology parks, representatives of governmental institutions and business community as well as professionals of different spheres to present their innovative solutions, inventions and ideas. Different exhibits, which will be demonstrated on the stands of almost 40 participants of the exhibition at the conference centre of Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, will range from the electric bicycle motor praised by Sir Richard Branson, unique musical instruments, smart toys, robots and special innovative programmes to mobile laboratories and the first Lithuanian space satellites.

The exhibition will provide an opportunity to test a modern electric bicycle motor ‘Rubbee’ of the new generation. This motor can be mounted on any bike in any country of the world by a completely inexperienced user in about half a minute. Without pedalling the power of this motor is sufficient for riding 25 kilometres, and it takes only two hours to charge it. Maximum speed achieved by this motor is 25 km/h. ‘Rubbee’ weighing only six kilograms can be mounted even on kids’ bikes.

The visitors of the exhibition will be able to experiment in a ‘Mobile Bioclass’ – the first mobile laboratory in our country with the most state-of-the-art research equipment for students of the grades 8-12 offers a unique opportunity to develop the kitchen of modern natural sciences, enabling students to work with laboratory equipment and feel the joy of discovery. Until now, this laboratory, which specialises in experiments with DNA and the most recent molecular research methods, has already been visited by more than 80 schools in 55 towns of Lithuania. The ‘Mobile Bioclass’ will be introduced by Vilnius University (VU) and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

At the exhibition, VU will demonstrate a model of the satellite ‘LituanicaSAT-1’, an integrated sphere, liquid crystals, microfluidic chips, and will present the information about the open access centres of VU and their innovative services.

Several inventions at the exhibition will be presented by Kaunas University of Technology (KUT). On a separate stand the visitors will see an identical copy of the satellite ‘LitSat-1’, get familiarised with a smart toy ‘Šnekutis’, an electric wireless rhythm device ‘Woodrum’ for musicians and a device for visually impaired enabling them to see a two-dimensional picture of the surrounding world, which will be displayed on the stand of KUT.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University will demonstrate an electromobile, a robot-spider and a prototype for remote iris recognition ’Gedimino akis’ intended for identifying a person from a distance – all constructed by students.

The exhibition will be welcoming all residents of Vilnius and guests of the Capital City on 4 December, 16:00–20:00, and on 5 December, 15:30–18:00.
