Informal meeting of sport ministers is one of the most important events in the sport area during the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council. It is arranged straight after the Sport Forum – an annual dialogue with the European sport organizations organized by the European Commission.

The EU Sport ministers meeting plans two discussions devoted to the priority topic of the Lithuanian Presidency in the area of sport – importance of sport as a sector for the economics and societies of the countries and Europe.  The first discussion will be on the input and inheritance of big sport events to the country, considering the importance of their investments and planning, while seeking for the long–term benefit. The second discussion will be devoted to calculations on the input of sport to economics and to formation of sport policy based on facts. Rapporteurs from academic society and sport organizations will make two presentations on each issue.

Ministers of Sport and delegations will visit the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, where joined by the EU Ministers of Culture, will have a gala dinner.
